Delaware Responsible Server Training (RST)

Delaware requires all alcohol servers, sellers, and managers to complete Responsible Server Training (RST) through an approved provider. This requirement is mandated under 4 Del. C. §1203 and applies to anyone involved in the service or sale of alcoholic beverages.

Training must be completed within 30 days of employment, and certification is valid for 3 years.

Certivance does not currently offer Delaware RST courses. We recommend the approved training provided by the Delaware Restaurant Association:

Steps to Be Compliant in Delaware:

  1. Complete an approved RST course within 30 days of hire:
All employees involved in alcohol service or sales must complete state-approved training.
  2. Maintain training records:
Employers must retain proof of certification for all staff to show compliance when requested.
  3. Renew every 3 years:
RST certification must be renewed every three years.

Program Benefits:

1. Required for Legal Compliance (Mandatory Statewide)
RST certification is required by Delaware law for all servers, sellers, and managers.

2. Reduced Liability & Risk Exposure
Training helps prevent unlawful service to minors or intoxicated persons, reducing fines and liability.

3. Improved Understanding of Delaware Alcohol Laws
Covers age verification, prohibited sales, penalties, and intoxication indicators to prevent violations.

4. Safer Service & Standardized Staff Training
Ensures consistent knowledge of responsible service, refusal skills, and proper ID checking.

5. Valid Certification for 3 Years
Certification is valid for three years and must be renewed to stay compliant.
