Rhode Island Alcohol Server Training
Rhode Island requires all employees involved in alcohol service to complete a
state-approved Alcohol Server Training program. This applies broadly across roles,
including bartenders, servers, supervisors, managers, bouncers, security personnel, hosts,
and valet staff working at licensed establishments.
Training must be completed within 60 days of hire, and participants must score at least
75% on the final exam to receive certification. Rhode Island-issued server training
certificates are valid for 3 years.
Steps to Be Compliant in Rhode Island:

Courses cover Rhode Island liquor laws, acceptable forms of ID, detecting fake IDs, recognizing
signs of intoxication, refusal techniques, and maintaining safe service practices.

of job title or level of alcohol service responsibility.
